About the Role

- Development of specific processes to maintain and improve upon manufacturing capabilities with the purpose of meeting production schedules
- Prove out product designs and methods of manufacturing to meet product requirements through testing of finished products and process capability studies
- Serve as a liaison between engineering design and shop manufacturability
- Identify opportunities or implement changes to improve products or reduce costs using knowledge of fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment, assembly methods, quality control standards, or product design, materials and parts
- Apply continuous improvement methods such as lean manufacturing to enhance manufacturing quality, reliability, or cost-effectiveness
- Determine root causes of failures using statistical methods and recommend changes in designs, tolerances, or processing methods to prevent reoccurrence
- Work cross functionally with other staff members to estimate costs, perform time studies, for the purpose of supporting new designs
- Evaluate manufactured products according to specifications and quality standards.
- Prepare documentation for current manufacturing processes or new engineering procedures
- Review product designs for manufacturability or completeness
- Redesign manufactured processes to minimize raw material use or waste
- Train production personnel with implementation of new or existing methods and best practices
- Perform ordering / purchasing of indirect materials as required to support required project work for manufacturability of products
- Troubleshoot manufacturing equipment and tooling as needed
- Maintains professional and technical knowledge by attending educational workshops; reviewing professional publications; establishes personal networks; participating in professional societies
- Maintain product and company reputation by complying with government regulations


Minimum prerequisite education, training, and/or experience required:

o Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering or Agricultural Engineering from an ABET accredited school

o Manufacturing experience preferred

o Knowledge of hydraulic system design

o Knowledge of electrical system design

o 3 years of related experience in manufacturing or quality control
