As we close on a record-breaking year at MTS, we have many things to be proud of. We have signed-on 7 new dealers, met many new faces, and added new members to our team at MTS. As we reflect on 2021, a year of growth, we know that we couldn't have done any of this without the dedication of our team at MTS. With that being said, we are excited to announce that we will be holding the first ever MTS Wellness Week from December 23rd until December 31st. During Wellness Week the factory and all production will be shut down, giving all MTS employees time to rest, reset, and focus on their mental health before we kick off the new year. Thus far 2021 has provided many challenges, almost by the minute. When you pair the challenges of supply chain, work force shortages, and constant commodity price increases with strong company growth, we’ve had our work cut out for us. Once the team overcomes one challenge, we are already taking steps to overcome the next, which involves discussing and executing not only plan B, but plan C and D as well. It can be exhausting and challenging for your mental state. The negative creeps into your mind and that’s where your focus lies, it’s a slippery slope. A slope everyone at some point is challenged to navigate. How we choose to navigate it is the important part. Am I going to let go and slide or dig my heels in and catch myself? In today’s world, we often spend too much time pondering the negative aspects and we don’t take the time to celebrate wins. It’s too easy to look right past those wins and move our attention to the negative side of things and consequently, the wins are quickly forgotten. Our focus goes right back to the challenges or what’s not working, and the win is now a distant memory. We’re right back on the slippery slope. What I must remind myself of personally and professionally is while challenges are often stressful, they push you and make you a better and stronger person. The challenges will always be prevalent. There’s no straight-line path to success, there are curves and bumps all along the way. We must embrace the challenges and never forget, if even just for a moment, to celebrate the wins and dig those heels in!

If you are reading this, it is likely that you have applied for a position at Mobile Track Solutions and may already have an interview set up. Starting a new job can be a fun, yet taxing process. Many individuals have lots of questions and concerns when it comes to the interview process and starting on your first day. Some of these frequently asked questions are answered below: "Where should I apply?" We accept applications in a number of ways. We encourage anybody interested to apply on our website directly for any position you may see available or just submit a “General Application”. You can apply through any of these platforms. “Where do I go for my interview?” Our large facility may make this intimidating, but we are here to help! We are located at 203 Johnson Street, Elkader, IA 52043. When arriving for the first time, you will enter through the North Offices located by Building A (see map attached). Stop at the front desk and let them know you are here for an interview, and they will help you get to the place you need to be. The hiring manager might already be there waiting for your arrival. “When should I follow up after an interview?” When a new position opens for our company, it is not rare to have multiple people applying for this opening. You will want to give the hiring manager 2-3 days to get through interviewing the other applicants before following up. Too often, we see other’s experiencing great success and wonder “How do they do it?” or “What are they doing that I am not?” And although I am in the beginning stages of my career, I have acquired many tools that have helped me develop as a professional as well as a person. If I had to break it down to just three things, I will tell anyone the key to kick-starting success is found by discovering your passion, your people, and your purpose. Find your passion. Finding a career that lights a fire within you and motivates you to do better each day is an essential part of living a happier life. If you are constantly spending your Sunday night’s dreading the workweek ahead and going into the workplace each day with a negative mindset – you have not found your passion. Sometimes finding your passion can be influenced by those you surround yourself with. For example, I was able to grow up observing and learning the “ins and outs” of my family’s farming operation, which has influenced me to work hard and someday pass those values and lessons learned to my children. These experiences growing up have had a direct impact on my goals and the type of professional I am today. I have found a passion for being a leader, developing and implementing new processes, as well as learning how successful businesses are structured and operated. These are the things that motivate me each day to wake up and show up for not only myself, but for my team at MTS as well. Find your people. One of my favorite motivational speakers, Jim Rohn, famously said that we are the average of the five people we spend the most time with. We are all greatly influenced (whether we want to admit it or not) by those who are closest to us. These relationships impact the way we think, how we feel, as well as the decisions we make each day. Finding positive and supportive individuals who share similar goals is critical to our success as professionals. However, it is also important to surround yourself with people who are willing to offer constructive criticism and brutal honesty to ensure that you are always developing and growing as a human. Criticism and growth can be extremely uncomfortable, but I have found that the times where I have been pushed out of my comfort zone have yielded some of the greatest successes I have ever experienced. When I started at MTS in 2019, I knew I had found my dream job but I was not aware that I would also gain the support of some extremely influential individuals who have helped shape me into the person I am today. Find your purpose. Finding your purpose. What is it and how do I find it? Throughout the last year I have begun to focus on figuring out what my purpose is and have realized that it is an essential factor in all aspects of life. To put it in different terms, the first question you should ask yourself is “what makes your life and career meaningful?” Discovering your passion, actively listening to feedback, and surrounding yourself with positive people are all great ways discover what makes your life and career meaningful. As you experience the ups and downs of life, you will soon realize what your strengths and weaknesses are, and maybe those strengths are what fuel your purpose in life. Just to name a few, I have found my purpose in being a kind human, offering help or a listening ear to others, and giving back to the community I was raised in. Regardless of whether it is in your professional or personal life, finding your purpose is something that can change and develop throughout your entire lifetime. I am very grateful to be a part of the team at MTS and to have peers that push and motivate me to do better, and to be better. Since I joined this growing and innovative company I have been able to find my passion, my people, and my purpose.

What is a company’s culture? The Merriam-Webster dictionary (I hate when people quote the dictionary, but it will make sense later!) describes culture as: the set of shared attitudes, values, goals, and practices that characterizes an institution or organization. While it is a great description, it’s too long for me to remember. I see culture as simply the lifeblood of the company. Sometimes culture can’t even be explained with words and is simply a shared passion. Without a strong culture, a business just seems like a hollow shell. Cultures can be both positive and negative. They can be driven by CEOs, owners, managers, co-workers or even YOU. Cultures can spread as wide as an entire company or as narrow as a singular employee. I have worked for businesses on both ends of the spectrum and can report back that being on the side with a positive culture is a much more fulfilling position. When everybody in the company is on the same page, amazing things can happen. I heard a story about how JFK was visiting NASA headquarters for the first time in 1961. While touring the facility, he introduced himself to a janitor who was sweeping the floor and asked the man what he did at NASA. The Janitors response was “I’m helping put a man on the Moon!”. It’s a culture like that that achieves the impossible. Over the past 10 plus years I have watched MTS grow from an inconceivable idea into a full-blown manufacturing plant that designs, builds, and sells world class earthmoving equipment. MTS equipment that is built in Elkader, IA is sold globally by some of the leading equipment dealers in the world. Seeds of success can be planted by one person, but it takes a culture (and a committed team) to grow that seed into a thriving organism. In March of 2020 I was approached for a sales position at MTS. On April 6th, 2021 I celebrated my first year here and could not be happier. At times I may travel more and work later than I need to, but I do it because I enjoy the team I work with and the shared company culture. The Merriam-Webster dictionary also describes culture as: the act or process of cultivating living materials in conditions for growth (told you I would bring it back around).Today in our weekly email update another employee was congratulated for his 10-year anniversary with the company. It's people like him and the group that have been with this company from the start that have helped culture it into the business it is today.

I want to take this opportunity to reflect and say thank you. Looking back on the last year, challenges have been many. Challenges that no one could have predicted or fathomed that we would still be working through today. Distractions. Distractions everywhere you look, challenging our daily and even hourly attitudes, making the everyday rigors that much more taxing. It has not been easy, but despite these challenges, Team MTS has continued to show up every day taking these challenges head on. Adapting to what the world has thrown at us in addition to the internal challenges a growing company faces and still we are winning. Growth is hard for companies and humans alike. Growth is closely related to CHANGE and change is very difficult. We’ve recently experienced phenomenal growth at MTS and I wanted to take some time to share what I see through my position as Sales Manager. The growth we have seen hasn’t just been increasing sales by x percent, that’s easy, anyone can have a blip in sales for a short period of time, sustaining it sets you apart. The growth that I am seeing is much bigger than that. I am seeing our product lines mature and GROW in features and reliability. I am seeing our Customer base GROW due to the increased reliability and support from our Dealers. I am seeing our Dealer Network GROW due to the increased customer base and support from MTS. I stepped into this position 3 years ago and had no clue what to expect. I came from the services industry and had never sold a tangible item in my professional career. I jumped in headfirst and I am pushing myself to continually GROW by travelling regularly to meet operators, equipment managers, owners and dealer management to understand how we can continue to GROW to meet their needs. To manage effectively from the road, I have watched our Sales Team GROW to become more independent and ensure our focus is to shorten the time from customer introduction to customer transaction by providing value. Most rewarding of all this development is watching my colleagues GROW as they work to stand behind me to ensure our customers and dealers are supported to the highest level! GROWTH is not easy but when you have a common goal in focus and committed teammates, it is incredibly rewarding! I am extremely fortunate to be a part of this MTS team and am excited for the growth that lies ahead. Make no mistake, this GROWTH is far from over and we need to get better in plenty of areas, however, in this journey called life we also need to slow down and celebrate a little growth every now and then!
